I Completed an Ultra, Now What?
The past six months of my life have been consumed by training for the Spartan Race Ohio Ultra. Hundreds of training miles, countless strength sessions, 31 race miles, and 74 obstacles later its all over. Now what do I do?
I dare say I trained close to perfect for this event. My running base was great, I never felt out of energy, my nutrition was on point, and for the most part my obstacle proficiency was there. The only thing that really got to me was the seemingly endless stretches through thick mud. Luckily, for the most part, this didn't even come close to breaking me mentally. I felt good the whole time and never even thought about quitting. If you want to know more about how I trained for this event please send me a message and I will be glad to tell you, but this post is about what comes next.
Training for this event I dropped about 30lbs but did not quite hit the weight I was hoping to show up to the event at. That being said I was in better shape than I have been in years and it has lit a fire. It is time for me to get back down to my peak weight and actually compete in my age group at the Chicago Sprint in October!
I am excited to chronical my journey back in to competition mode and give some insight into my training style as one of the few Weckmethod Qualified Coaches in the country! If you do not know about Weckmethod you soon will, it is the most efficient way to train, move, and run so stay tuned for training tips and updates!
